Traveling Exhibit Opens Today at Camp Dodge's Gold Star Military Museum

There's plenty happening today in Johnston, from an early dismissal, food for a cause and a fun history lesson.

Traveling Exhibit
The "Unconditional Loyalty: The Military Service of African Americans" traveling museum exhibit debuts at the Gold Star Military Museum today.
The exhibit from the African American Museum in Cedar Rapids showcases Iowa's African American military heroes and heroines from the Revolutionary War to today. Special emphasis is on the 60th U.S. Colored Troops, the Buffalo Soldiers, women in the military, Iowa's World War I training camps at Camp Dodge and Fort Des Moines, and the Tuskagee Airmen.
The exhibit will be on display at the Museum in Camp Dodge until Feb. 18. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
