But The Des Moines Register reported the event was closed to the press and Boehner did not plan to speak with media after the event.

Boehner was at the for the fundraiser hosted by Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds.
Latham, a Republican from Clive, and Rep. Leonard Boswell, a Democrat from Des Moines, will face off in November in the newly redrawn 3rd Congressional District.

The district stretches from Des Moines and its suburbs through southwest Iowa to Council Bluffs.
Thirty-five percent of voters in the district are registered Republicans, 33 percent are Democrats and 32 percent are independent voters, the Register reported.
