U.S. House Speaker Boehner to Visit Johnston May 29; Fundraises for Tom Latham
The powerful Republican will be a guest at a breakfast fundraiser in Johnston. Latham, an incumbent from Clive, faces Democratic Congressman Leonard Boswell after they were thrown into the same district following the census.

While President Obama campaigns in Iowa today, the state's Republicans are preparing for an equally powerful leader's visit next week.
U.S. House Speaker John Boehner will appear at a fundraising breakfast for U.S. Rep. Tom Latham on May 29.
According to a Des Moines Register report, Boehner will be hosted by Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds at the event from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the in Johnston.

Latham, a republican from Clive, and Rep. Leonard Boswell, a Democrat from Des Moines, will face off in November in the newly redrawn 3rd Congressional District.
According to the Register, the district stretches from Des Moines and its suburbs through southwest Iowa to Council Bluffs.

Thirty-five percent of voters in the district are registered Republicans, 33 percent are Democrats and 32 percent are independent voters, the Register reported.
