Weather Alert for Johnston
The National Weather Service has issued a watch for Polk County.

The National Weather Service says freezing temperatures are expected in Johnston late Saturday night.
According to the forecast, gusty north winds will usher in colder air on Saturday. By Sunday morning, high pressure will build into Iowa with light winds and clear skies, allowing temperatures to fall to a near record low by Sunday morning.

Temperatures are expected to fall below 32 degrees in much of Iowa. Temperatures in Johnston may drop to 33, but a patchy frost is likely between 4 and 8 a.m.
Exposed plants and tender vegetation are likely to suffer freeze damage or be killed. To protect plants, cover them by Saturday evening.
