Weird Iowa: Godzilla Attacks, 'Ma Barker,' Too Many Drunks, and the State Goes to the Dogs

Let's start right out of the blocks with a couple of weird videos.

The first is from Marion Patch, where the man who goes by the name "TheSlamPoet1985" decided to hold a funeral, of sorts, mourning the loss of the now closed — and his always beloved — Hardee's. .

Next on the list, a movie by Cedar Falls High School student Austin Hansen. We've discovered his videos and love them for lots of reasons. Mostly we love this one — Godzilla Eats Cedar Falls! — for its weirdness. .

Getting away from video, here's something from Ames Patch that falls into the category of weird but not unexpected: How many people got cited for alcohol at VEISHEA? . Jeesh.

From Urbandale and the Drake Relays: One lovably weird-looking dog. That's all we have to say about it. .

In the weird crime department, we go to -- where else? -- Iowa City. Police say a mother-daughter crime team worked together to steal merchandise from the local  for more than a year. How'd they do it? You could say it was a pushover. .

More weird crime from West Des Moines: A couple who thought they were playing it safe with their valuables, found out just how easy it is to get "unsafe" real quick. .

Finally, from Waukee we learn a couple of lessons: First, fighting with a buddy is usually a bad idea; and, next, getting tangled up with a cop is always, always a bad, bad idea. .
