Weird Iowa: Giant Gorillas on the UNI Dome (Yikes!), 'Big' Dance, Interlude Dance and Teacher Dance (Yikes Again!)

Weird crime, weird dance rules, weird dancers, weird apes, weird weather, weird Iowa.

When weirdness straddles a couple of our Patches, it's worth the top spots on our weekly roundup of Weird Iowa.

This first case involves an Urbandale woman and a West Des Moines man. The man involved makes for a good example of why it's good to be careful who you meet over the internet. He says the woman first hit him up for $1,200 in rent money, then took off with his comptuer following a "date." Not nice, but not particularly weird -- .

Weird weather is a way of life in Iowa, and the damage caused in Ames during the week, showed how destructive it can be, too. Many residents felt a tornado must have struck, given the amount of damage, but the weather service said, nope, just a huge, straight wind. .

Cedar Falls is great for a lot of reasons, but we really love it for its fun, weird kids who produce fun, weird videos. We have another one for you, giant gorillas attacking the UNI Dome, which you can see by clicking here.

And, speaking of Cedar Falls, sorry, but we just can't get enough of the Interlude Dance. You either? .

And, speaking of dancing, here's just one more, this one that seems to argue that teachers just shouldn't dance. This one's from Johnston, where some very daring, dancing teachers invaded Horizon Elementary. .

Finally, from Iowa City, which never seems to fail: When is it not OK to dance in a bar? And when a bar tells a certain University of Iowa student that she's not welcome to dance how and where she'd like, what can the bar expect?
