When Does Daylight Saving Time End in 2012?
The big change will be here before you know it.

Those 7:30 a.m. commutes will get darker before they get lighter. Officially, Daylight Savings Time doesn’t end for a couple more days – officially at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4.
Remember, you’ll “fall back” and set your clocks back one hour. Many electronic devices automatically adjust when Daylight Savings Time begins or ends.
That extra hour gives you a chance to get out in Johnston and have some fun. You could:
- Attend the Summit Middle School sixth-grade band concert at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. Nov. 5 in the school's cafetorium, 9500 Windsor Parkway.
- Take in the Timber Ridge Elementary fifth-grade band concert at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the school, 7370 N.W. 54th Ave.
- Listen to the SCIBA seventh- and eighth-grade honor band perform at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Johnston Middle School auditorium, 6207 N.W. 62nd Ave.
- Take in a Des Moines Buccaneers hockey game. The club is back home Nov. 9 and 10 at 7:05 p.m. against the Fargo Force. The arena is at 7201 Hickman Road in Urbandale.
When you change your clocks in the fall and spring, it’s also a good time to change smoke detector batteries and check to make sure device are in working order.
Arizona, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa do not observe Daylight Savings Time.
It begins again on March 10, 2013.
