Work to Restore Beaver Creek Natural Resource Area Delayed a Week
The cold spring has delayed the "leafing out" of plants, so volunteers will tackle invasive species near Beaver Creek on April 20.

The Johnston Parks and Recreation Department and the Johnston Tree Board have delayed plans be a week to battle the spread of invasive plants such as honeysuckle in the Beaver Creek Natural Resource Area.
An email today says that "because of the cold spring, the honeysuckle has not yet leafed out and flagging of the locations of the invasives has not been possible. Therefore, the workday has been postponed until April 20."
Volunteers will meet at Crown Point Community Center, 6300 Pioneer Parkway at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, rather than this weekend. Work time will be 9 to 11 a.m. with refreshments provided.
