• Linn County local initiative to regrow tree canopy (cbs2iowa.com) — Marion residents are being urged to order native trees now as Linn County's Planting Forward program works to rebuild the canopy lost in the 2020 derecho. City arborist Mike Cimprich says expanding Marion's urban forest is a top priority, with at least 100,000 more trees planned countywide. Orders are due by September 10, 2026.
