CORRIDOR WORKSITE WELLNESS AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED 2013

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – The winners of the Corridor Worksite Wellness awards were announced today at the Corridor Business Journal’s annual HealthCare Summit.

A total of 54 worksites participated in this year’s awards ceremony. Participating worksites were scored on the extent to which their efforts aligned with best practices in worksite wellness and compared to other worksites of a similar size based on the number of employees. For the first time this year, there was a tie in one of the size categories and a new “Most Improved Score” award was introduced. The new award was determined by comparing the assessment score from this year to last year’s score. The winners are listed below:

Honkamp Krueger & Co, P.C. – Best Overall Score, <50 Employees

The winners have demonstrated a commitment to employee health and wellbeing, and the efforts of all nominees were celebrated at the awards today. Last year’s winners were Cedar Rapids and Linn County Solid Waste Agency, Lil’ Drug Store Products, Midwest Metal Products, The Gazette Company, and St. Luke’s Hospital.  Representatives from these worksites participated in a panel discussion during the award ceremony to share their successes and challenges in improving the culture of wellness within their organization.

The awards ceremony was previously known as the Linn County Board of Health Healthy Worksite Wellness Awards and began in 2009 with only 13 worksites participating. This is the first year the awards were sponsored by the Corridor Business Journal and included Johnson County worksites. The assessment process is overseen by the Corridor Worksite Wellness Committee, which includes leaders from a number of organizations in Linn and Johnson Counties; the Committee recently unveiled a new LinkedIn group for worksites in Linn and Johnson Counties. The group is called the Corridor Worksite Wellness Network. Worksites are encouraged to join.

Nominations for the next round of awards will be accepted beginning in October of 2013. For more information about the worksite wellness assessments, please email corridorworksitewellness@gmail.com or call 319.892.6065.
