Big Home Fixes Don't Always Require Big Bucks — Keeping it Real (Estate) with Deanna

Home inspectors do a great job of pointing out major structural, safety, and health concerns on a home. I always make it a point to inform my clients that just because it is major, does not necessary mean it will have a hefty price tag to fix it.

An example is a GFI, ground-fault circuit interrupter, in a bathroom, kitchen, or outside that is not working. These electrical receptacles have "test" and "reset" buttons that are often black and red on them. Their purpose is to protect people from electrocution. They are often found near water areas in a home. While they will show up on an inspection report if they are not working properly, they can often be repaired by a licensed electrician for $50 or less.
