Susan Says: Apply Chemicals to Plants in the Evening to Avoid Scorching

Summer can be rough enough on plants, but spraying chemicals in the morning or during the heat of the day can really do damage.

A hot, windy and dry summer is rough enough on plants, but spraying chemicals in the morning or during the heat of the day can really do damage. Continue to treat pests, but apply sprays at night to allow maximum absorption before the sun returns. Better still, watch the weather forecast and apply the night before days where the highs are under 85 degrees. Scorching is particiularly a concern when using organic chemicals, because of their oil-based ingredients.
