VIDEO: "The Artist" Featuring Center Point Artist Jonah Lorsung

During my sophomore year of high school I was heavily involved in both large group and individual contest speech. The great thing about speech is that it allows you to meet people who share a common interest in theater and most likely have other self-expressive interests.

During one State competition I met Jonah Lorsung from Center Point. We had competed in some of the same events and I had gotten to know him well. Eventually he told me about his art hobby after I had mentioned my film hobby. We decided to meet up some time and collaborate on a video.

Last Sunday he and a friend made the 30 minute drive to Marion hauling a massive canvas and his equipment in a seperate van. We went out to the Boyson nature trail and set up under two trees.

I filmed him painting a water-color piece he calls "Whenever You Breathe Out, I Breathe In," a title of a track from Oregon band Modest Mouse.
