Marion voters headed to the polls on Nov. 2 for the City/School Election.

In January, Steve Jensen will begin his second term as Ward 2 representative, Grant Harper will continue his service as an at-large representative having been appointed to fill a vacancy in May 2020, and Sara Mentzer will start her term as Ward 4 representative.

The only contested race on the City Council ballot for the other at-large opening on Marion City Council was between incumbent Randy Strnad and challenger Dale Monroe. Preliminary results indicate Monroe won the race by one vote. Strnad is expected to request a recount after the results are canvassed on Nov. 9.

Other Council members not yet up for reelection include Mayor Nick AbouAssaly, Colette Atkins – Ward 1 and Will Brandt – Ward 3.
