• Milford to Add Second Officer to Regional HEAT Team (northwestiowanow.com) — Milford residents will see expanded local support for high‑risk police situations after the city council unanimously approved adding a second Milford officer to Dickinson County's regional HEAT team. The new member will still need to be accepted by the unit and complete training and probation, but city leaders say the move should strengthen coverage and response capabilities across the area.
   

• Okoboji retreat draws hundreds of writers, songwriters to Iowa Great Lakes (ktiv.com) — Milford hosted the Okoboji Writers and Songwriters Retreat, bringing 350 attendees and 60 industry professionals to the Iowa Great Lakes for three days of seminars and networking. Participants worked on everything from memoirs to newsletters, including learning how to grow audiences on platforms like Substack, and organizers are already inviting people to sign up for notifications about next year's retreat.
