140 youth attend Faith Lutheran's Vacation Bible School

Over $700 raised to benefit church's Gathering House, which serves homeless families in DM area.

One hundred forty young students, age pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, got to explore God’s word at the annual Vacation Bible School, held at Faith Lutheran Church in Clive, June 12-16.

The students raised $702 in noisy offerings to benefit the church’s Gathering House, which is used to host homeless families in the Des Moines area who are served through the Family Promise of Greater Des Moines organization. Students learned about homeless and what organizations such as Family Promise of Greater Des Moines do to help families in need.

Students also participated in creative, interactive Bible lessons led by Pastor Sarah Trone Garriott each evening, along with games, crafts and music. Over 100 volunteers, from sixth grade up to adults, helped out.
