Traffic impacts around the interchange were a major concern, even as Buc-ee's pledged long-term fixes, leaving the 20-acre site's future and a potential tourism draw still undecided.
   

• Waukee elementary school dismisses early Tuesday due to power outage (kcci.com) — A power outage in the Des Moines metro left 781 Urbandale customers and 189 in Clive without electricity Tuesday morning, forcing Shuler Elementary in Waukee to dismiss at 11 a.m. With extreme heat making the outage a safety issue, afterschool care was canceled and families were told to watch for updates on the next school day.
