Dear Iowans: Don't Let the Ag Gag Bill Pass!
Iowa voters need to express their opinion. The ag gag bill should NOT pass.

Holy schnikeys, it's been awhile since I posted! So sorry! Life has had me running lately and I'm trying to catch up.
This is just a quick last minute post to alert you all with an update on H.F. 589, a bill that passed the Iowa Senate today which would make it a criminal offense to share photo/video evidence of animal abuse in large scale operations. (AKA, the "ag gag bill.") The bill now goes to the Iowa House, where it's expected to pass easily, then on to the governor.
This bill would protect any abuse or health issue on factory farm operations or in puppy mills. Why would any proper operation have anything to hide, is my question? Why the need for secrecy? Many food recalls start from visual evidence of contamination or poor practices in meat-production facilities. Most puppy mills and backyard breeders are caught by someone catching visual evidence of poor treatment.

Please call your Iowa House representative AND Gov. Branstad's office ASAP. Politely ask them to veto H.F. 589 in support of kind treatment to animals.
Iowa is already too accommodating for puppy mills. Let's not make it even easier for those that mistreat animals.
