Miller named College of Human Sciences’ Student Marshal (Blog)

Kelsie Miller of Urbandale will represent the College of Human Sciences as student marshal at Iowa State University's graduation ceremony.

AMES, Iowa -- Kelsie Miller of Urbandale will represent the College of Human Sciences as student marshal at Iowa State University's graduation ceremony. This honor is given to one graduating student within the college each semester. 

Miller is graduating is summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and a minor in psychology.

She has made the dean's list each semester and has consistently been among the top two percent of students in the college.

In addition to her academic accomplishments, Miller is generous with her time and talents. She has been actively involved in many volunteer activities including tutoring fellow students, participating in the ISU Dance Marathon, and serving as a Destination Iowa State leader.

Miller has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant and after graduation will spend nine months teaching English to Indonesian high school students. She plans to incorporate her kinesiology background into this experience by running extracurricular physical activities in the community and exploring rehabilitation and therapy concepts in Indonesian culture.

Once her time in Indonesia is complete, Miller plans on attending physical therapy school.

Miller will be recognized for her achievements and will deliver remarks at the college’s graduation celebration at 3 p.m. Friday, May 10 at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium.

She will also lead the College of Human Sciences procession at the all-university ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Hilton Coliseum. Both events will take place on the Iowa State University campus.
