As we launch this great community website I wanted to start off this first golf posting discussing how lucky we are here in Urbandale to have so many great golf courses to choose from. Whether you’re a serious golfer or one who just likes to get out and take a few swings, we are blessed with a great selection of courses within minutes for us.
From the challenging to the simple basics we have over 30 courses within a 20-minute drive. From our great public courses like Beaver Creek, Jester Park, AH Blank, Bright-Grandview, Waveland, Woodland Hills, Copper Creek, The Legacy Golf Club, Willow Creek, Deer Run, Otter Creek and Tournament Club of Iowa to the excellent private courses of Urbandale Golf and Country Club, Glen Oaks, Des Moines Golf and Country Club, Wakonda Club, Echo Valley, Hyperion Field Club, Briarwood to Ankeny Golf and Country Club just to mention a few.
As we start to wind down our summer I believe the best weeks of golfing are still ahead of us. Fall golf is the best time to be outdoors and enjoy the wonderful weather in September, October and -- if we’re lucky -- into November.
