Buckle Up — Urbandale Police Will Be Watching
Urbandale police will have a heightened focus on drivers who don't have their seatbelts fastened next week.

The Urbandale Police recently conducted a seatbelt compliance survey of drivers.
One location had 92 percent compliance and a second location had 97 percent, according to a news release from the department. The average of the two surveys was 94 percent compliance.

We would like to compliment the motoring public for this outstanding job on seatbelt compliance. There is room to improve though.
During the month of March there will be heightened enforcement projects to address seatbelt usage and all traffic violations. The first project will start on March 14 and conclude on March 19.

During that time you will see more officers stopping cars, issuing citations, handing out warnings and educating drivers about their vehicle operations. Remember to drive safely and pay attention to the additional pedestrian traffic moving around as the weather becomes nicer.
