The Waukee High School girls basketball team jumped out to a quick start and never looked back Tuesday, defeating Urbandale 48-20 -- a big improvement for Urbandale.
Waukee, (6-1), outscored Urbandale 9-1 in the first quarter. Urbandale (1-8) matched Waukee in the second period and trailed 17-9 at halftime.
Urbandale’s Allie Mataloni, who finished with 11 points, scored all eight of her team’s second-quarter points.
Taylor Wingert led Waukee with 11 points.
