Cops & Car Dealership Team Up for Driver's Education

Current and former from throughout the Des Moines are have teamed up to promote driver’s safety through a new unique driver’s education experience. Drive With Cops recently opened their doors in Urbandale, just a few months ago as the brainchild of a few former police officers who wanted to provide a better way for teens to learn driver’s education.

The Drive With Cops program allows students to learn first hand from both current and former police officers the rules of the road. The Drive With Cops team has partnered up with Granger Motors to equip the students with Dodge Avengers that closely replicate a police car and students cannot wait to get behind the wheel!

Why Drive WIth Cops?

The staff of police officers that participate in the program provide a wealth of knowledge to students based upon their training and experience in the field. This program best prepares students for life as a new driver and the staff will go to great lengths to provide unique experiences for the students. A Semi-Truck and trailer is brought on site to demonstrate blind spots that a Truck driver would experience when smaller vehicles attempt to pass. Students get additional seat time in the form of a state-of-the-art driving simulator that replicates the conditions of the road before ever driving on the road with an instructor. Expert speakers are also routinely brought in to discuss all aspects of the driving and car ownership experience to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the full responsibilities that driving entails.

The extra effort and care that the police officers put into training their students has not gone unnoticed. Initial enrollment had the classes in single figures when the company started just a few short months ago. Now enrollment is soaring with class sizes doubling to participate in this unique experience. This opportunity for students to learn from police officers and ask them questions in a non-threatening setting on a nightly basis is very unique. Maybe the best part of the whole experience is the ability for parents to rest assured that their students are getting prepared by the most qualified trainers in the Des Moines area and this also happens in Urbandale.
