How Much Does it Cost to Send Your Student to Urbandale Schools?

The Urbandale Community School District's board of directors is committed to low fees. It could cost as little as $70 or as much as $1,096 to enroll your child in school this year.

How much does it cost to enroll students attending Urbandale Community Schools in the 2013-2014 year?

It depends on how many activities. The Urbandale School Board’s policy is to keep fees at a minimum.

So it could cost as little as $70, or as much as $1,096 for a student who is involved in band, choir, industrial technology, Talented and Gifted programs, three or more athletic activities, and eats lunch and breakfast every day.

Parents of students meeting specific financial eligibility standards will be eligible for a waiver of student fees or a reduction of student fees based upon the request of the parent or guardian.  

Free and reduced lunches and breakfasts are available to students whose families meet income guidelines. Here are the meal costs (reduced costs in parentheses):

Breakfast: $1.60 for PK-5 (30 cents)

Breakfast: $1.85 for 6-12 (30 cents)

Lunch: $2.35 for PK-5 (40 cents)

Lunch: $2.60 for 6-12 (40 cents)

Here are the basic fees, which are also subject to waivers for students in income eligible families:

Books and materials (required): $65

Student newspaper (required): $5

Student activity ticket (optional): $45

Band uniforms: $5

Instrument rental: $15

Mixed choir uniform: $5

Industrial technology: $5 fee for protective eyewear when determined necessary by the teacher

Talented and Gifted program: $10 activity fee

Athletic participation, grades 9-12: $50 per activity, for a maximum of $150. No family can be charged more than $200 for such participation fee. Other activities may charge fees to offset participation costs, but these fees are not subject to the individual and family unit. Such activities may include vocal and instrumental programs, cheerleading and Jaywalkers.
