Iowa

Iowa is coming off a Chippewas. Iowa appeared to have the game locked up, but Central Michigan recovered an onside kick with 45 second remaining, and marched down the field for a winning 47-yard field goal.

Players to watch: Walk-on Mark Weisman was forced into the starting running back role after injuries knocked out the top two backs. But, Weisman has played spectacularly, including a 217-yard, three touchdown performance last week. Linebacker James Morris has anchored the defense. Quarterback James Vandenberg leads the offense, but has not shined like some hoped thus far.

Travis Perry, of Urbandale, is a redshirt freshman for the Hawks this year.  He redshirted after being a walk-on for the 2011 season.

Minnesota

Last week: The Gophers took down the Syracuse Orangemen 17-10 to remain undefeated on the season. The turnover-minded Minnesota squad forced four, and settled in behind a solid rushing attack and defense.

Players to watch: Running back Donnell Kirkwood gained 99 yards and scored two touchdowns against Syracuse. Max Shortell looms large as a 6-foot-6 quarterback. On defense, Aaron Hill and Derrick Wells have been racking up tackles.
