Metro Ice Sports Facility Reopens

The ice arena is open under the management of two Des Moines Buccaneers coaches.

After being closed for five months for repairs, the Metro Ice Sports Arena has reopened under the management of two Des Moines Buccaneers coaches, Ryan Bennett and John Devereaux.

Bennett is in the process of trying to buy the Metro Ice Sports Facility, located at 5100 N.W. 72nd St. in Urbandale,  the Des Moines Register reports.

The facility’s two ice arenas were closed over the summer for maintenance. There were also financial difficulties, the newspaper said.

“We hope to be rehabbing the facility over the next three years,” Bennett said.

Youth hockey, men’s hockey and figure skating classes have resumed at the facility. More information is found on the facility’s web site.
