State champion a sought-after recruit.

State wrestling champion Colby Knight is headed to Harvard.

The Urbandale senior had narrowed his choices to Harvard and Cornell.

“Ultimately, Harvard was where I wanted to be,” Knight told the Des Moines Register. “Cornell is a great atmosphere and the coaching staff there is just as good as anywhere else, and my brother (Evan) is at Cornell, too, and that would’ve been a huge benefit of being there.

“But I just fell in love with Harvard. I love the coaching staff, loved my visit there and everything felt right, so I went with Harvard on my decision.”

Knight, expected to wrestle as a college 141- or 149-pounder, is 13-0 this season at 132 pounds. The three-time state medalist placed second as a freshman, first as a sophomore and fourth last season when he dealt with a meniscus problem that required offseason knee surgery. He owns a 125-7 career record.
