Nominations Open for Urbandale Citizen of the Year

Do you know someone who has given of their time and energy to make Urbandale an even better place to live and work? Nominate them for Urbandale Citizen of the Year.

The Urbandale Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2012 Citizen of the Year.

The winner will be honored at the chamber's annual dinner on Feb. 7. The nomination form is attached as a PDF and due to the Chamber office by Dec. 3.

Criteria for nominating:

  • The “Citizen of the Year” nominee may be a resident, business owner, or affiliated with an Urbandale business.
  • Community involvement for purposes of selection of the “Citizen of the Year” nominee shall be defined in broad terms to include involvement in affairs beyond the scope of activities in Urbandale.
  • The Nomination Committee shall look at involvement in the business, political, educational, and religious sectors in selecting the award winner.  The winner does not need to come exclusively from the business sector.
  • The award winner should be selected on the basis of community involvement in matters other than those relating to an individual’s job.

In 150 words or less, describe why you believe this person should be named “Citizen of the Year.” Different activities and services should be discussed such as business, government, not-for-profit organizations, religious groups and the community in general.
