Officials Want to Educate Public on New Dallas County Law Enforcement Center

Four public meetings will be held in the next four weeks, giving residents an opportunity to learn about a proposed administration and law enforcement center going before voters on Aug. 6.

From a media release:

Dallas County officials have scheduled public information meetings in Adel, Perry, Woodward and Waukee beginning Tuesday, June 25, to share information about the proposed county administration and law enforcement center that will be on the ballot on Aug. 6.

County supervisor Mark Hanson said the meeting schedule is:

  • 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Board Room, 801 Nile Kinnick Drive South, Adel
  • 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, Woodward Granger High School cafeteria, 306 W. Third St., Woodward
  • 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, Perry High School Library, 1200 18th St., Perry
  • 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, Waukee Community School District Central Administration Office, 560 SE University, Waukee

"Two studies since 2006 have identified a critical need for additional office space in order to deliver services efficiently and effectively to a population that has more than doubled since 1997," Hanson said. "Most Dallas County residents know they live in one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation but would like to know more about how that growth has affected county government."

"As county officials we have a responsibility to ensure services keep up with the needs of our residents," he said. "With the decision to set an Aug. 6 public referendum on this question, we also have the responsibility to share the facts with them so they can reach their own conclusions about what is best for their county."

The proposed facility would be 91,000 square foot on a county-owned site in east Adel on Highway 6.
