You can safely clean out your medicine cabinet by taking old prescription drugs to the Urbandale Police Station Saturday.

Urbandale residents can safely clean out medicine cabinets by taking old or unused prescription drugs to the Urbandale Police Station Saturday.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and local police departments across the country sponsor National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The event allows residents who want to discard unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs to do so  in an environmentally safe way.

Bring any medications you want to dispose of to the Urbandale Police Station, 3740 86th St., from 8 a.m. to noon. Officers will be on hand to take possession of any unused or expired drugs. The drugs will be safely disposed of at a later time, according to a news release.
