Seized Cash Makes Small Dent in Urbandale Developer’s $1.16 Million Restitution Bill

Authorities sized $9,800 from a safe in developer's home during an arson investigation.

Money seized from a safe in Urbandale developer John Kline’s charred home will be applied to restitution ordered after Kline was convicted of two counts of bank and wire fraud in U.S. District Court in April.

Authorities seized $9,800 that is being applied to restitution during an arson investigation at Kline’s former residence, Kent Darr of the Des Moines Business Record reports.

Kline, who is currently serving a 2 ½-year sentence in federal prison, reportedly has paid $200 of the debt.
