Two Charged in Theft of Historic Items, Vintage Coins from Living History Farms

The Urbandale Police Department has filed theft charges against two Des Moines area men after historic items were reported missing from Living History Farms in Urbandale.

Two Des Moines area men have been charged in connection with a burglary at Living History Farms, the Urbandale Police Department announce Friday afternoon.

Carter Shireman, 21, of Clive, and Joshua Prine, 20, of Polk City, were both charged with third-degree theft for allegedly taking historic artifacts, vintage coins and currency from the Urbandale facility, according to a news release from

The burglary took place on Sept. 12 or 13. Police appealed for the public's help in identifying a man on surveillance photos. On Sept. 18 the department said it learned the man's name and the investigation continued, leading to today's arrests.

Polk County Crimestoppers offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
