Urbandale Community School District: NFHS And College Football Playoff Foundation Honors Mike Moreno With The Extra Yard For Teachers Award

Principal Tim Carver and Extra Yard for Teachers Award recipient Mike Moreno.

On September 10, 2021, Urbandale High School Principal Tim Carver presented Mike Moreno with a game ball as Urbandale High School’s recipient of the Extra Yard for Teachers Award. The National Federation of High Schools Association (NFHS) in partnership with the College Football Playoff Foundation (CFPF) developed the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative to recognize and elevate the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers.

Mike Moreno joined UHS in 2006 as a PE teacher. In 2013, Mr. Moreno helped start and still teaches the UHS adaptive PE class for students with special needs and their peers in regular education. Since that time, he has also served as our Special Olympics coach. Mr. Moreno also serves as a Model Teacher and a member of the UHS Leadership Team, helping to lead and support learning across the high school

Congratulations to Mike Moreno, Urbandale High School’s recipient of the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers Award for 2021!
