Congratulations to Urbandale Middle School 6th grade student Olivia Froehle, 6th grade student Miranda Rullman, and 7th grade student Braeden Cox for being selected to participate in the 35th Annual Opus Honor Choir Festival. Over 2,100 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs. Selections were made by means of a recorded audition.

“We’re confident this is the product of our K-12 Music/Choral/Band department working together to support each other and building on past learning and musical experiences that help our students be successful,” said 6/7 General Music, 6th Chorus Instructor Lisa Merfeld and 7th/8th Grade Chorus and UHS AP Music Theory Instructor Chris Conner. “Thank you to all music directors in the District that positively impact our students!”
The 2021 Opus Honor Choirs will perform at 4:00 p.m. on November 18 at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in Ames. The Opus Honor Choir Festival is made possible by the Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc.
