Urbandale Family Wellness Project in Beginning Stages of Construction

A new wellness complex is on the horizon for those living in and around Urbandale.

Life Time Fitness became a reality when Living History Farms sold 40 acres of land west of Interstate 35/80 and north of Hickman Road, according to KCCI Channel 8. The 18-acre facility will be a first in Iowa.

The facility will be part of a landscaped commercial campus, hopefully attracting businesses focused on a healthy way of life, the article said.

"It will have indoor tennis courts, indoor pool, weight room -- restaurant inside as well," Engineer Chuck Bishop told the television station. "It can have hotels, other thing, but no fast food restaurants allowed in the development."

The development will be located in the Heritage Park development across from Menards and the Love's Truck Stop.
