Urbandale Plans to Annex 80 More Acres for Residential Development
The parcel adjoins both Urbandale and Grimes, which have annexation agreements in place.

Urbandale will grow by 80 acres if an annexation plan wins approval from Iowa’s City Development Board.
The proposal to annex a parcel of land on the northwest side likely will result in a new residential development, the Des Moines Register reported. The land is located near 142nd Street and Waterford Road.

The proposal is not expected to be contentious, as the cities of Urbandale and Grimes have an annexation agreement, Urbandale Director of Community Development Paul Dekker said. The land adjoins both cities.
The City Development Board is required to hold a hearing on the annexation of the land, currently zoned for agriculture. The annexation will likely be final in August, the newspaper said.
