Urbandale Police Department Seeking Public Input Next Week for Accreditation Process
A public meeting will be held June 10 at the Urbandale Police Department.

On June 9, the Urbandale Police Department will begin the process of gaining accreditation, and city residents will have a chance to participate in the process.
On Monday, June 10, the public is invited to offer comments at a public information session to be held at 5 p.m. at the police headquarters, 3740 N.W. 86th St. Residents can offer feedback on all aspects of the department including policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.
If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session, but would still like to provide comments, they may do so by telephone. The public should call 515-252-8231 on June 10 between the hours of 3-5 p.m.
Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session, are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies' standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Urbandale Police Department. Local contact is Lieutenant Rob Johansen at (515) 252-8233.
Persons wishing to offer written comments about the Urbandale Police Department’s ability to meet the standards for accreditation are requested to write the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, Va. 20155.
Public input is part of a process by which an assessment team will decide if the Urbandale Police Department's efforts meet CALEA standards. It is a voluntary process to gain accreditation, which would recognize the law enforcement agency for its professional excellence.
