Patch Poll: Should Homeowner's Flag Pole be Removed from Urbandale Park?
So far, Patch readers say no. What do you think?
The City of Urbandale is re-establishing its claim on Walnut Hills Creek neighborhood park from nearby residents whose landscaping and other improvements have encroached on city property.
First the city required a couple who installed landscaping on the back of the dam to remove it. Last week, the council acted to force Steve Waage, 4228 162nd St., to removed an 18-foot flag pole from park land.
Waage had earlier removed a deck from the area, but said city officials didn't specify the flag pole also needed to go.

He suggested that he donate the flag pole to the city, but he would maintain the pole and site.
Instead, the council voted unanimously to give Waage $500 toward the cost of relocating the flag pole.
