Urbandale Public Pool Reopens With a Splash
After being closed since the end of August, the Urbandale Public Pool reopened Saturday with a new pool liner.
A drought, of sorts, came to an end on Saturday when 166 people gathered for open swim at the Urbandale Public Swimming Pool.
The Urbandale Pool was closed for five months to install new pool liners, leaving residents without a place to do laps and water exercise.
Dave Hintez, 32, of Urbandale swam at the Urbandale Public Pool before it closed.

“The pool is very nice and the new liners is great,” Hintez said. “It is a nice facility here.”
Lisa Brandos, 32, of Urbandale, was also a regular at the Urbandale Pool who welcomed its re-opening.

“I love it,” Brandos said. “It was a long time since it has opened and I was eager to get back in.”
Bailey Mader, 25, of Johnston, swam at Iowa State University when she was in school.
“It’s good to be back in the pool,” Mader said. “I was going to buy a season pass until I saw it was closed.”
The Urbandale Public Pool is open for public recreational swimming from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $4 for ages three and above, ages two and under is free.
