Urbandale Residents Find Exploded Bottle Bomb
This is the third bottle bomb found in Urbandale in the past three months.

A third bottle bomb was found in Urbandale last week, according to police reports.
Residents in the 4100 block of 159th Street found remnants of the bottle bomb on Sept. 15.
Urbandale Police spokesman Randy Peterson said the bomb had exploded before residents found it in their damaged mailbox.

However, the residents did not hear the bomb go off.
Peterson said residents believe the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m.

Two similar bottle bombs were found in late July in the 15900 block of Winston Avenue. No one has been charged in those incidents.
Urbandale police ask residents to call 911 if they find something suspicious in their mailbox. Residents are advised not to touch or move the device.
On Sept. 6, Johnston Police were called to Terra Park after a city employee found five bottle bombs. Four of the bombs had already detonated. The Johnston Fire Department and Des Moines bomb squad detonated the final bottle.
