The salary increase was approved at a special meeting last week, affecting Urbandale school district teachers, nurses and counselors.

Urbandale school district teachers, nurses and counselors will see a pay increase next year after the school board approved the hike at a special meeting last week.

The board approved the contract last week, the Des Moines Register reported, which included a 4.1 percent salary increase.

The contract gives a districtwide increase of $777,016 or 3.9 percent, to the salary and benefits package offered to the employees, district Chief Financial Officer Shelly Clifford told the newspaper, bringing the package’s total cost to just over $21.5 million.
