Urbandale Students Pedal Out in Numbers for Bike to School Day
The second annual event is designed to healthy habits in Iowa kids.

More than 200 Urbandale students participated in National Bike to School Day on Wednesday, according to WHO Channel 13.
About 30 Iowa schools participated in the event, which is designed to establish good healthy habits from day one in children, Jensen Elementary School Organizer Kati Ploeger told the television station.
During the event, teachers told kids to always wear a helmet and closed toed shoes. Urbandale Police Officers ran safety checks and issued bike licenses, the article said.

The McCannon family of Urbandale made the ride to Jensen Elementary for the event.
“It’s quite a bit different. Usually there’s a line of cars on Aurora here," John McCannon told WHO.

“It’s kind of fun because you get a little exercise and it’s fast," 9-year-old Lucas McCannon also told the television station.
