13th-Ranked Sophomore Qualifies for State Bowling Tournament
Waukee High School's Nathan Wanned will compete Tuesday in the Iowa state bowling tournament at Plaza Lanes in Des Moines.

Waukee sophomore Nathan Wanned has qualifed for the State Bowling Tournament to be held March 12 at Plaza Lanes in Des Moines. Nathan qualified for this event during the State Qualifying Meet on Feb. 14.
In order to qualify individually, students must either win their event or be in the top eight highest scores. Each participant bowls two individual games and the total of these two games determines who ends up in the top 16 at state.

Nathan bowled a season-high game of 258 and a season-high series of 461 at the qualifying meet. The score of 461 has Nathan ranked at 13 going in to the final tournament.
The Waukee boys’ bowling team just missed qualifying for the team competition this year. The team consists of bowlers from Waukee High School, Perry High School and A-D-M High School.

The varsity squad this year consisted of Tyler Blaisdell (Perry), Connor Slater (A-D-M), Bryce Bucklew (Perry) Austin Young, Andrew Sullwold, Jonah Starmer and Nathan Wanned.
The team bowled a season high score of 2961 at the state qualifier, which left them only a few pins away from qualifying for state. Team scores are made up of the top five of six individual scores for a team and then five Baker’s Games bowled by the team. Baker’s Games involved all top five bowlers in one game.
The boys look to build off of their 8-4 season this year as they return 6 of 7 letter winners for next year's season.
