Jake Knott's football season with the Iowa State Cyclones ended early because of a shoulder injury.

Paul Rhoads, coach of the Iowa State Cyclone football team, said last week that Knott will be out for the rest of the season following surgery in Chicago.

Knott, a Waukee High School alum and Iowa State linebacker, was named the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Week a week ago. It's the second time this season and the third time in his career that Knott has been given the honor.
Knott had 11 tackles in the showdown against the Baylor Bears last month. This was Knott's 19th career game where he had 10 or more tackles. The Cyclones won the game, 35-21.

Knott, a 2009 graduate of Waukee High School, is a senior management major at Iowa State University. He is the son of Laura and Tim Knott.
