Alice's Famous Spaghetti Returns for One Night Only: PHOTOS

The April 14 fundraiser at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with food provided by the family that ran the legendary Waukee restaurant, benefitted the Waukee Area Historical Society. Check out photos from local photographer Terry Snider.

The spaghetti that helped put Waukee on the map was back for one night this week.

The Waukee Area Historical Society got a fundraising boost from the family that once ran Alice's Spaghetti Land. Food cooked true to the restaurant's recipes was served Sunday to hundreds who crowded in St. Boniface Catholic Church.

The founder and owner of the restaurant for about 50 years was Alice Nizzi, who died in 1997. She's the "Alice" in Alice's Road and was known far and wide for being a bit of a character who made some of the best Italian food this side of Italy.

The restaurant, owned and operated by Alice's nephew, Jim Nizzi, after her death, closed in 2004, according to an earlier Waukee Patch story.

The dinner menu featured Alice's Spaghetti Land's famous spaghetti as prepared by Jim Nizzi, along with Park Place Catering of Adel.
