Alice's Restaurant Lives: Get Your Tickets for Alice's Spaghetti Land Dinner

The April 14 fundraiser at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with food provided by the family that ran the legendary Waukee restaurant, will benefit the Waukee Area Historical Society.

The Waukee Area Historical Society is getting a fundraising boost from a legendary -- and defunct -- local restaurant: Alice's Spaghetti Land.

Tickets are on sale now for the fundraiser from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 14 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. The evening will include a dinner and door prizes drawn from everyone who purchases a ticket, with all proceeds benefiting the Waukee Area Historical Society.

The founder and owner of the restaurant for about 50 years was Alice Nizzi, who died in 1997. She's the "Alice" in Alice's Road and was known far and wide for being a bit of a character who made some of the best Italian food this side of Italy.

The restaurant, owned and operated by Alice's nephew, Jim Nizzi, after her death, closed in 2004, according to an earlier Waukee Patch story.

The dinner menu will feature Alice's Spaghetti Land's famous spaghetti as prepared by former owner Jim Nizzi, along with Park Place Catering of Adel. The menu will also be catering a meal of chicken alfredo, a garden salad, garlic bread and dessert, plus drink, according to a news release from the historical society.
