📰 News we're reading

• Des Moines police stand by license plate readers as three communities end contracts (who13.com) — Waukee has joined Indianola and Osceola in dropping its contract with Flock Safety, removing license plate reader cameras from the community over privacy concerns. Des Moines police, who use a different vendor, strongly defend the technology's crime-solving value and say access to data is tightly limited and automatically deleted after 30 days unless tied to an active investigation.

• Iowa leaders selected for Leadership Iowa program, including five from the Corridor (corridorbusiness.com) — Several Waukee residents, including Lynn Aubrey, Andy Pringnitz and Alex Rich, have been selected for the prestigious 2026-27 Leadership Iowa class, joining 40 leaders from across the state. Participants will travel to cities like Des Moines, Council Bluffs and Spencer for sessions on agriculture, government, education and more, before graduating at ABI's June 2027 conference in Dubuque.
