What is the WCSD Foundation?

The WCSD Foundation was formed in 1996 to provide parents, alumni and the community an opportunity to show their financial support for the Waukee Community School District (WCSD).

Why should I go to the Auction?

The auction is a great way to celebrate your school district with friends, neighbors and district staff members (teachers, administration, support staff).  This year’s event is being hosted at Aviva’s beautiful corporate building in West Des Moines.  The event will include a large selection of appetizers including a “slider” sandwich bar and dessert bar. A full cash bar will also be available.

There will be a large selection of items to bid on in the silent auction as well as a live auction. Local celebrity weatherman and Waukee parent Ed Wilson will Emcee the event. The night will conclude with dancing and music provided by a DJ.

How is the money raised used?

The Foundation’s mission involves three main components of support to the district:

  • Funding of an endowment for the Waukee Foundation Scholarships
  • Supporting the professional development of our teachers – We donate $10,000 a year to assist with staff development that is not included in the district budgets.
  • Providing a fund to provide teachers the opportunity to acquire and introduce new and innovative concepts to their students.  Teachers submit applications to the Foundation with their grant proposals.   Grants are reviewed and approved quarterly.
