New Online Registration for Waukee Community Preschool
New this year, registration for preschool slots will be handled completely online. Interested parents will log into the registration site beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 10.
Our mission at Waukee Community Preschool is to provide a quality,
age-appropriate early childhood education that nurtures every child as an individual, empowers every child as a learner, and celebrates each child’s talents and abilities. The Waukee Community Preschool is designed to be a two-year program; one year for 3-year-olds and a second year for 4-year-olds. Please note that our preschool is made up of a combination of children with disabilities (children served through special education programming) as well as children without identified disabilities.
The Waukee School District will have a very limited number of slots for 3-and 4-year-old preschool openings for the 2013-14 school year. There may be, for example, only six or seven 4-year-old (PM) slots for the fall. As for 3-year-old (AM) slots, there may be 21 to 28 slots depending on how many preschool teachers are on staff in the fall.
New this year, registration for preschool slots will be handled completely online. Interested parents will log into the registration site beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 10.
Parents will go to Waukee School’s website www.waukee.k12.ia.us. On the front page of the website there will be a graphic link to Waukee Community Preschool registration. Parents will click on the graphic link to access the online enrollment link that will be entitled “Waukee Community Preschool Enrollment 2013-14.” As each family completes the online registration process, each registration will be electronically date and time stamped. Both 3-and 4-year-old slots will be filled based on these stamps.
During the week of December 11-14, 2012, the student services administrative assistant will call all families to whom a slot will be offered confirming that they will have a preschool slot for 2013-14. However, the elementary school the child will attend will not be determined at that time. Due to a new elementary school opening in the fall of 2013 and due to the fact the number of preschool teachers will not be determined until later in the spring, attendance centers will not be assigned until March 2013. At that time, the assistant will contact the families who have received a slot for 2013-14 and will inform those families which buildings they may choose from.
The first family on the date-and-time stamp list will choose which school their child will attend. As families are called, per the date-and-time stamp order, slots and buildings will be offered accordingly.
If a family does not receive a phone call in December, that family did not receive a slot. However, all families will remain on the date-and-time stamp list, as it will serve as the waiting list in the event openings should occur later in the spring or during the summer of 2013.
