It's Halloween, so those who celebrate are discussing costumes, treats and even ghosts. But there's a local group who has ghosts on the mind, even if it isn't October.
Midwest Paranormal Investigation Society (MPIS), based out of West Des Moines is a group of people from all walks of life who seek the truth and volunteer to help others. They receive calls from people all over the state, asking them to come to their home to investigate. Most people want to know what's going and and verify that they're "not crazy."
MPIS is a non-profit (they never charge for their services) who will enter a location (home or business), investigate overnight, review the evidence and send their findings (if any) to the owners. While everyone on the team works a regular day job, it usually takes a week to get the findings, but quite often, it brings the owners of the location some peace of mind.

Occasionally, MPIS will visit a "known haunted" location. This past summer, they visited the Squirrel Cage Jail in Council Bluffs. They invited guests to come along (something they do not do on regular investigations) for confidentiality and safety reasons.
One major issue, when it comes to hauling investigators and gear, is transportation. The Squirrel Cage trip was no exception. However, thanks to Scott Politte at Stivers Ford Lincoln, they had a large van that transported everyone and their gear.

The jail was an active location and their guests had a great time. If you're looking for something spooky to listen to tonight, you can listen to their findings at the jail and other locations at http://mpisghosthunters.com/Evidence.html
If you find that you've had some things happen in your home or business that you just can't explain, give the MPIS team a call or contact them through their website!
